6 Apartments, 20,000 sq ft, £7 million, 2004 - 2006
Brief: The outline brief was to supply Heating & Cooling for 6 Luxury apartments in the west end in partnership with Nilsson architects & Mecserve consultancy, enabling a modern climate controlled building.
Solution: To supply 6 external Toshiba 3 pipe heat recovery full inverter VRF units coupled to internal ducted & floor Mounted fan-coils. The A/C is linked via a Lon-works compatible control panel – this interlinks with the user interface and the under floor heating providing full heat recovery Energy Efficient cooling.
Implementation: Installation of 48 fan-coils & 6 SHRM Toshiba 3 pipe VRF was completed in December 2006.
Pacair liaised with llorett controls to provide state of art A/C control linked to under floor heating lock out. The project is to be installed in phases, finishing each apartment to deadline working directly with the contractor & client. Pacair supplied all A/C equipment to this site.
Deadline/Budget: The Project is now finished.
Background: The buildings were built in 1911 as two separate housed to the design of Blow and Billerey. The Grade II listed buildings are set behind a Beaux-Arts Classical façade with the interior a mix of early Georgian & Louis XVI styles, used as offices since 1940.
Nilsson Architects were appointed in February 2005 to convert both buildings into six prime residential apartments. Planning and listed building consent were granted by Westminster in 5.5 weeks for a sympathetic reconstruction. Through careful consideration of the disposition of the spaces they were able to preserve and enhance the character of the buildings with minimum intervention to the listed rooms whilst providing exceptional apartments, incorporating contemporary kitchens and bathrooms. Par Air were appointed for the design and implantation of an air conditioning system that would compliment the quality of the surrounds.
